"We had great defensive intensity, and we were able to get a lot of fast-break layups off the defense in the first half," said Woodland coach David Mirly. "Then we were able to knock down some free throws down the stretch and showed a lot of composure."
Woodland, the sixth seed, took a 37-22 lead into the half as Josh Hahn scored 13 or his 15 points in the second quarter to key Woodland's 25-11 advantage in the frame.
"That was our big quarter, and Josh was a big part of that," said Mirly.
No. 7 Oak Ridge charged back to tie the game in the second half, but Seth Gaines drained a 3-pointer to give the Cardinals some breathing room.
Gaines finished with 18 points on the night, while Timmy Abner, Chad Gaines and Jeremy Hutson each added eight in the win.
"We were up by three with about two minutes left in the game, and he hit one to put us up by six," Mirly said. "That was just a really big shot for us."
Oak Ridge was led by Dylan Abbott's 18 points, while Garret Light and Lance Felter scored 13 and 11, respectively.
Woodland takes on the Delta Bobcats today at 5 p.m. in the consolation championship.
