Senior Silas Dill scored 22 points to lead four Mules in double figures. Quinton Stevens his three 3-pointers on his way to 19 points, while Jake Smith and Jake Welch connected for 16 and 13 points, respectively. Dill also added 11 rebounds to his statistics for the night while Welch dished out eight assists.
"We ran the floor well tonight (Friday)," Bernie coach Brad Botsch said. "I really thought we had a good offensive effort and got the ball inside some and also did a good job of attacking the basket. Bloomfield has a good squad and to beat them three times in one year is an accomplishment in my mind."
Bernie improved to 18-5 with the win.
Bloomfield kept pace with the Mules early on, taking a 27-25 lead in wide open first period. A 21-16 Mules advantage in the second left Bloomfield trailing, 46-43, but Bernie built what proved to be the winning margin with a 21-15 third.
Kyle Williamson scored 21 points for Bloomfield, while Leighton Hensley added 16, Corey Smith scored 13 and Jacob McNeil finished with 10 to round out the Wildcats who scored in double figures.
Sikeston 73, Kennett 47
SIKESTON -- The Sikeston Bulldogs came into Friday evening's match-up against the Kennett Indians with three things at stake. A win would give them a share of the SEMO Conference Championship, a 21-3 regular season record, their best in decades, and a solid victory heading into the district tournament.
The Bulldogs wrapped all three up, as they defeated their visiting opponent 73-47. The part-ownership of the SEMO Conference Championship is the first for Sikeston since 1995, which eventually led to a Final Four appearance.
"It's a good win for us," said Sikeston head coach Gregg Holifield of the victory. "Number one, we're the co-champions in the SEMO Conference with Jackson. That's such a difficult thing to do, to win the conference championship."
The ball game actually began evenly matched, as the Bulldogs jumped out early, 7-2, only to see the lead disappear with a few minutes remaining in the first quarter. The home team finished the quarter on a 6-0 run to lead after one, 21-17.
Matt Ritch was a big factor in the first quarter, knocking down two 3-pointers as he finished the quarter with 12 points for Sikeston.
The Bulldogs kept the run alive at the start of the second quarter, and behind Michael Porter and Cal Lane field goals, stretched their lead to 25-17.
Randrick Caruthers put a temporary halt to the run with a field goal to give the Indians 18, but then Sikeston went on another huge run of 15 unanswered points to bust the game wide open at 40-18.
After one half, Kennett trailed 44-24, but despite the large lead, the big news for the home team was Brandon Washington heading to the locker room early with a sprained ankle. Washington's status is uncertain heading into districts this week.
Scott County Central 87, South Pemiscot 45
SIKESTON -- The Scott County Central Braves improved to 20 wins on the season Friday night, easily dispatching the South Pemiscot Bulldogs, 87-45.
The rout started swiftly for the Braves, leaping out to a 32-9 advantage after one quarter of play.
The first half saw four big leaps from two different Braves players. Three separate dunks by Drew Thomas and a two-handed slam by D.D. Gillespie added to the 57-18 lead the Braves took into halftime.
Thomas scored 20 points in the first half. Gillespie had 14 points and Caleb Johnson scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, also in the first half.
More of the same from the Braves in the second half. Although, the Bulldogs did double their scoring in the third quarter, putting 18 points on the board, making it an 81-36 ball game.
The substitutions became more frequent for the Braves as the clock ran in the fourth quarter. Scott Central registered 11 players with at least two points on the night.
"I thought the kids played hard tonight," Braves head coach Ronnie Cookson said. "South Pemiscot has kind of had some misfortunes this year, but they got a hustling bunch of kids. The players they have left are hustlers. They fight tooth and toenail."
Thomas ended up leading all scorers with 24 points. Gillespie finished with 19 points and six assists, while Johnson had 17 points and 13 rebounds.
South Pemiscot head coach Aaron Burton said he was proud of the effort and the way his team played, despite the loss.
"My guys never quit and that's all we can ever ask for," Burton said. "You go up against Scott County with a great coach like Coach Cookson and those guys are just so athletic.
"Our goal was to come in a get better each quarter and I thought we did that. We just wanted to come in with realistic goals against a great team and I feel we got better."
South Pemiscot was led by Mauricio Clay who scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Jordan Carter added eight points.
Scott Central (20-2) played a rescheduled game on Saturday, a rematch of the Scott-Mississippi Conference championship game against the Scott City Rams. The Braves won the last meeting, 68-59.

Jake Welch doesn't even live in the Bernie School district. Just like too many other families with money, his father pays to get him to play there so he doesn't have to play in Malden. I hope our Bearcats don't have players who aren't living in Dexter. It is bad enough Bernie, Richland, Bloomfield, and Advance do.
