Bearcats split doubleheader

Dexter's junior varsity Bearcats split a doubleheader Wednesday on the road at Bloomfield, winning the matchup of jayvee teams, 9-2, then dropping a 6-0 decision to the Wildcats' varsity squad. Dexter's Ryan Vanover (No. 40, above left photo) is safe at second after beating the throw to Bloomfield second baseman Jake Jackson, while Dexter shortstop Garrett Wray (right) applies the tag to Bloomfield's Jacob McNeil after he tried to advance to second on a misplayed ball. Dexter will host Dunklin County's Junior Legion team today at the East Park ballfield at 5 p. m. and will take on Naylor at home Friday.
