Cathryn Heil's resounding kill off a Cape Central error put an exclamation mark to the end of Dexter's Game 1, 25-12, win and the Lady Bearcats rallied for a, 25-22,, win in the second game to remain undefeated on the season and keep the Lady Tigers winless during volleyball action Tuesday at Dexter High School.

Cape Central's poor attempt at controlling a Brittany Bedford serve left the ball setting just above the net and Heil wasted little time slamming in down to end the first game. Dexter looked less impressive in the second game, falling behind early before taking its first lead at 18-17 and hanging on for the narrow 3-point win.

"I am proud of tonight's (Tuesday) win with Cape Central; however, we definitely have some things to work on before the weekend tournament at SEMO," Dexter coach Kris Vandeven stated, referring to the team's participation in the annual volleyball tournament staged at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau.

"We've been a little hesitant on the court during these first four matches, so it will be nice to have our full team back healthy again," she added, noting that Abbie Warren's injured ankle as healed enough to see the junior return to action this weekend.

Dexter never trailed in the first game and used a 7-0 run midway through the game to turn a 11-7 advantage into a commanding 18-7 advantage.

In the second game, Dexter fell behind by as many as six points early (7-1), but clawed its way back to tie the game for the first time at 10-all.

Heil finished with seven kills on the night, but it was Jessica Satterfield at led the net attack with a team-high nine. Elisha Flanigan added four kills while McKenzie Mitchell was charted with three.

Both Heil and Satterfield finished with seven assists to lead the team, while Flanigan threw in three aces. Heil was credited with four digs, while Bedford and Flanigan each at three.

Dexter made it a sweep on the night as the jayvee squad posted a 25-11, 25-18 win.

Both Dexter squads improved to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in SCAA play. Both Cape Central teams remained undefeated, according to Lady Tigers coach Charity Huff, at 0-5-1.

It is the BA tournament and NOT the SEMO Conf. Tourney.

I thought the coach was playing the wrong people? I thought she had favorites and played the ones she liked instead of the best players? She needs fired if she can't try to LOSE any better than that. (HOON sarcasm at its best!)

Dexter did great last night. If you haven't attended a Dexter VB game you really need to. Varsity player Jessica Satterfield is an awesome player... Her vertical jump is unbelievable!!! I just love to watch her play.
