The effort was almost identical to Monday's struggle against Puxico, as the Lady Bearcats fell behind early in Game 1 before bouncing back to take a 6-point win in the opener. The Lady Eagles never recovered for Game 2, as the Lady 'Cats jumped out front on cruised home with a 15-point win over their district rivals.
"Tonight (Tuesday) was a repeat performance of last night," Dexter coach Kris Vandeven said. "During the first game, we did just enough to get by. We started out a little stronger in the second, and Cathryn finished the match for us with some tough serving. Hopefully we can get refocused in practice and be ready for Poplar Bluff on Thursday night."

Dexter fell behind 6-0 in Game 1 before a NMCC service error got the Lady 'Cats on the board. Dexter chipped away at the lead and tied the game at 11-all on a kill by Heil. It remained a 1-point game (16-15) before a service winner by Joyner started a push that saw Dexter begin to pull away for the win over a determined Lady Eagles squad.
Dexter has three seniors on this year's squad and they were recognized before the game for their contributions on the court and to the school.
"Tonight was a nice win for our Senior Night," Vandeven stated. "We have three seniors (Joyner, Heil, Satterfield) who have given us many memorable games. They will be greatly missed next year."
Dexter made in a sweep on the night when the jayvee team pounded out a 25-11, 25-7 win.
Dexter's varsity unit now stands at 17-5-3 overall and 6-1 in SCAA action. The jayvee team supports a 14-2-2, 5-1 season slate.
Dexter will next be in action Thursday on the road when they tangle with the Poplar Bluff Lady Mules. Jayvee action is scheduled to start at 6 p. m. with varsity play to follow.
Bernie sweeps
Twin Rivers
BROSELEY -- It took Bernie three games, but the Lady Mules managed to pull out a win on the road against Twin Rivers Tuesday, 25-17, 23-25, 25-15.
"The varsity got a little lackadaisical in the second set and let it get away," Bernie coach Jeff Rodgers said. " This team does not have the killer instinct they need. Twin Rivers is too dangerous of a team to fool around with because they have a couple of nice servers."
Kristen Eaves again led the Lady Mules with dominated play at the net, charting 12 kills and eight blocks (5 solo). Bailey Martin added eight kills and a team-high 9 blocks (4 solo).
Sarah Deason led Bernie in digs with 25, followed by Rachel Palmer and Leslie Kean with 18 each. Kean also added 22 assists in Bernie's winning effort.
Bernie made it a sweep as the jayvee team opened play with a 25-14, 25-12 win.
Bernie's varsity as now put together a six-game winning streak, eight out of the last 10, and now stand at 12-10 overall. The jayvee team supports a 12-8-1 season slate.
Bernie will next be in action at home Thursday when it will host Bloomfield in a matchup of SCAA teams.
