It was just that kind of night for the Bloomfield Wildcats, who took the momentum from Rice's long-distance 3-pointer and never looked back in an 80-33 rout of the Kelly Hawks here Tuesday night.
"It was a really good cap on the first quarter," Bloomfield coach Dustin Hicks said. "It gave us good separation and the boys fed off of that (going into) the second quarter."
The win was the ninth straight for the Wildcats (19-6), who have ran off several victories since losing Leighton Hensley to an injury.
"We're really happy with where we are," said Hicks. "It's no secret that we lost Leighton Hensley for the year...but we've done a good job of picking up the pieces."
Tuesday night, Bloomfield rolled from start to finish, taking a 27-9 to the second period after Rice's 3 to end the opening quarter and leading 49-15 at the intermission.
"I was really pleased with our effort because you can get complacent against teams that are having a down year ..." Hicks said. "(Tuesday) is a testament to the boys and how hard they work."
Rice led all scorers with 21 points -- all in the first half, while Seth Hill added 12 and Matt Merick finished with 10 for the Wildcats.
Michael Fisher paced Kelly woth 12 points.

It's a good thing he hit that 75 footer or maybe they wouldn't have won by 47 points.
Hey Bon...its no secret they lost this Hensley kid. Its no secret because it is mentioned in every article summarizing a Wildcat game.
Nonetheless, Bloomy plays hard. They are like most teams in the area this year, not very talented or skilled, but they do bust their tails for Coach Hicks.
Thats the difference between the two schools. Kelly isnt very talented or skilled either but they DO NOT bust their tails for Coach Wills. You have to demand and earn respect for that to happen. Not try to be their friends or hang out at Buffalo Wild Wings with them.
Oh, and it helps if you can coach.
Another difference is that Hensley got injured.
